Where can I stay if I wish to extend my stay in the area?

This URL lists other hotels in the area, I suggest either the Concorde Hotel and Club which is 5 minutes from Southampton International station or there is a Travel Inn also nearby.

After the charter, how do I get back to the station or Hotel?

Taxis will be ordered for you from the Marina back to the hotel or train station, either is about a 15 minutes cab ride away.
For those wishing to stay and enjoy the water and weather (!) longer, there is a public bar at the Marina for after event drinks, or for waiting in for the cabs.

What should I wear for the day?

You should bear in mind that even on a warm day it feels cooler on the water, but the sun will burn you mercilessly, so sunscreen is a must. If you have a warm splash proof jacket this is ideal, or if not, any warm jacket or coat and a hat (woolly or baseball), particularly if like the Skipper, you are thinning on top! Stay away from denim, which is useless on the water. A fleece or similar is useful in case it gets chilly and a pair of Sunglasses if it gets bright.

Non-marking sole shoes please for the main vessel, we will ask people to remove their shoes when walking inside the main area of the boat, but not when on the aft deck or outside.

Most people tend to stick to polo tops and chinos with jumpers or fleeces they can discard if it gets hot. There are life jackets for all on board which are compulsory wear if riding in the RIB or on the inflatable.

What are the Water Activities?

For those that want to, we can arrange a ride in a high speed RIB that is the tender to the main Vessel. It is a “lets get a bit wet and do some wave jumping”, it is not for the faint hearted; however it is very stable and safe. This design of boat is used by the RNLI as lifeboats for sea rescue, as they are both very stable and fast.

The RIB has it's own VHF coastguard radio in case of difficulty, but we shall be in site of the main vessel throughout most of the ride.

There is an inflatable wave rider in the form of a jet ski for the young at heart and physically strong
